SMITH/ ROBERTS/ BRANDON/ DEATHERAGE
Hi, I'm looking for the county where my grandparents were married. I think they eloped,
but I'm not sure. They were married July 14, 1907. Their names are: Gilbert Jackson SMITH
and Grace Alcenia ROBERTS. Gilbert was working on the Jake ROBERTS place near Star, in
Mills Co., and that's how he met my grandmother. She was 15 and he was 24. Also, I am
trying to locate the parents of Gilbert. They were: Jesse Nelms SMITH and Ruth Mae
BRANDON. Jesse's parents were Sebe and Nancy Adeline EVERETT SMITH. Ruth's parents were
Alex and Sarah DEATHERAGE BRANDON. I need anything on these folks. Thanks, Darla Smith

CLOUD
When recently visiting a cemetery (McCann Cemetery), I noticed a large number of
tombstones with the dates of death in about a 6 month period of 1888. As a college
professor who teaches health sciences and human disease, I am interested to know what was
the nature of these deaths? I know there was a Dengue fever epidemic in Texas around the
turn of the century, but there seems to be a significant time lapse between the documented
cases and these dates. If you could shed some light on this topic, please e-mail me a
return reply. I have assigned students to research this matter, and they have yet to
return with a plausable answer. I have also attempted to uncover the mystery pathogen. Any
assistance you could lend would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time in this
matter. I am a decendant of the Cloud family, and several other families buried there.
Thank you again. Jay D. Cloud, AA, BA, NREMTP Professor of Emergency Medicine San Jacinto

where he died (???). Email sass@sanus.erziwi.uni-wuppertal.de
